New Year's Eve I Startled Myself. . .

This woman member had nothing to say to an all-male audience. Then she remembered a cold, wet night when. . .

IT WAS New Year's Eve, and Christmas Day had been my six-month anniversary of following the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous. During those months, I had established several friendships; things were looking up; and I was feeling pretty smug. While getting ready for the New Year's dance at our club, I was looking forward to an enjoyable evening, not knowing what was about to happen.
