Those Stupid Slogans!

They may never win the annual Pulitzer Prize for literature, but every year our slogans help thousands of AAs win sobriety

BERTRAM was an English teacher. Very intelligent, horn-rimmed type. He drank martinis only. He downed fifteen of them one night and smashed up his car. The next night, under prodding from his wife, he took a cab to the AA clubhouse where I spend my time. When I first laid eyes on him, he was decidedly drunk.
