From time to time as I have sat in AA meetings this past year, I have watched the winners proudly acknowledge a first, a fourth, or a twentieth anniversary. The applause has been sincere and enthusiastic for each one of them. On the walk or drive home, I have thought of these tremendous accomplishments in sobriety.
