My Name Is Mac

From Bombay, India, comes this personal story of one who found divine assistance when all else failed - This Is AA Around the World. . .

MY NAME is Mac. I am an alcoholic and will remain one throughout my life. I hated alcohol, yet I sought protection in it. I loved life, yet I attempted suicide. I had an appreciation of beauty, yet I went deep into ugliness. I did not know physical fear, yet I cringed before intangibles. I knew that if I was blamed, I had to shoulder the blame, yet there was a strong desire to place it upon other persons. I wanted to keep sober, yet there was always a reservation at the back of my mind. I sought the help of a sponsor, but always ended up with a spinster.
