Carrying the Message

Back to prison--with the message

Inmate AA members here at a state prison have been allowed to attend outside meetings for over ten years. At first, they were only permitted to go to the local meetings held here in Walla Walla. Then, in October 1960, Earl H. was permitted to attend the State Assembly held in Yakima, Wash. Earl, having been originally sentenced by the courts to be executed for first-degree murder, a sentence which was later commuted, did not have a release date at this particular time. Earl was released on parole in December 1962, and resides in California. Since his release, Earl has remained active in AA and twice has made the long trip up from California to attend our AA open house, held in September each year.
