The Illusion of Immunity
Face to face with reality, we often refuse to accept the fact that it could happen to us
WEBSTER defines "illusion" as "state or fact of being deceived." "Immunity" is defined as "state of being protected, as against a disease." One evening, in a talk before a Pittsburgh AA group, these two words came out as I tried to explain why, although I was a full-blown and admitted alcoholic in 1953 when I attended my first AA meeting, I then ran away and never returned until 1959.
