Carrying the Message

Am enclosing another little check and application blank to get the Grapevine to a friend of mind down in Chinahae. Once she starts to get it, she will just have to keep renewing it, I figure. I cannot get along without the Grapevine, and although I pass it on, I do so reluctantly, because I always want to read it one more time. Sometimes I think anyone could recover just with the Grapevine, because I know I find all my defects in others' stories (I'd find it hard to recognize all of mine otherwise). Then, I find so much courage in the stories that it's pretty hard to keep from gaining a little myself.
