The Hostile Fire
In insurance language a friendly fire is one which is where it is supposed to be: for example, in a fireplace, a kitchen stove, or at the end of a match. It is useful and desirable. . . . A hostile fire is one which is where it is not expected to be: for example, in a sofa, blanket, or attic. It is damaging and dangerous.
