As a sober alcoholic, can I come to terms with the hostility, confusion, and misunderstanding all around me?

THE SCENE was the regular Monday-night meeting of my own AA group, somewhere in Manhattan. Suddenly, this written question was read aloud: "Have you read the newspapers today? If so, how do you feel? If you haven't read the newspapers today, how do you think you would feel if you had read them?"
