After thirteen years of sobriety, he found himself hooked by another kind of addiction
I WAS A low-bottom type, a wino, a skid-row drunk. Alcoholics Anonymous changed that as of July 21, 1956. But after more than thirteen years of freedom from alcohol, I found myself hooked on drugs. Far too long, I had cheated by deluding myself that triumph over one chemical agent (alcohol) gave me some sort of immunity to any and all other chemical agents.
