Everything--and Pills

EVERYONE had given up on me, even my family and relatives. Worst of all, I had given up on myself, and I didn't care whether I lived or died. Being in and out of jails and the penitentiary, drinking everything from good whiskey (at least, they say it's good) to canned heat, and also taking pills had me close to death's door. During my last years of drinking, I became a complete atheist. My dear grandmother even prayed that I would come to my senses long enough to ask God to forgive me, and then He would take me out of this world before I could change my mind.
