I Had to Quit Fighting

And then, in the act of surrender, fear turned into fearlessness

I AM CONSTANTLY hearing the remark "I stopped drinking out of fear. I was afraid to die drunk." I was just the opposite. I drank out of fear. Fear of living sober. Fear of living bored. Fear of living excited. Fear of dying for a drink. Fear of dying sober.
