My Church and My AA

A priest tells how, for him, they are two different things, but equal in importance

I AM A PRIEST, and I have often been asked what AA means to me--as a priest. I can answer truthfully, "Very little--and everything." The reason I can give this smart-alecky answer is that, as a priest, I am not that much different from other alcoholics. When bricklayers and lawyers come to this Fellowship, their problem is not laying bricks or practicing law. They already know how--if only they could use their knowledge! In the same way, my problem was not being a priest. My problem was theirs: alcoholism.
