Depressions: a plea, an answer

In the August issue of your wonderful magazine, you published a letter from J. M. of Las Vegas, Nev., headed "Second-Year Depressions." I have sought through each following issue for an answer to J. M., because I am just where he or she is. I can echo every word, except about the tears--the hollow, meaningless prayers, the withdrawing, the suicidal depression, the trying harder and just feeling worse. It has been with me for nearly two years--after eight years of sobriety as a Loner. Thank God, I'm still sober. But I live in fear. Maybe it is self-pity, but it does not improve, and how does one control it?
