An AA Meeting in Watts

At the time of the 1965 riots in the Watts area of Los Angeles, there was no, AA meeting there. A few days after the events, a black AA member went to work. He talked with the winos, the drunks, the defeated. Mostly he met with resentment and hostility, but in time there was a handful of others with him. In this moving article, we are taken to a third-anniversary meeting of the group that grew from those unlikely beginnings. . . .
