Liquor Sales Up

WASHINGTON--Americans drank more last year, according to the Internal Revenue Service. The service reported that domestic bottling of distilled spirits set a record of 300,500,000 gallons last year, up 5.6% from 1968. Beer taxes were paid on 11,900,000 barrels, about 4% more than the previous year, while wine taxes were paid on 200,300,000 gallons, an increase of about 6%.
