WHEN I first teamed up with AA, I had many problems I could not cope with or understand. I was on my own, 200 miles from any other A As; most of my knowledge, of necessity, came from AA literature. I had considerable trouble remaining sober and failed dismally a number of times during the first live years. Now I realize that a lot of my slips were occasioned solely by my lack of understanding of AA methods. They had never been explained to me.
