They Never Promised Me a Rose Garden

AS I LOOK BACK over the past four years of my sobriety, I am truly grateful that no one promised me a rose garden. In fact, AAs never promised me a good job, a new car, a great love, a strong belief in God, sudden happiness, wealth, or sainthood. They only said, "We can show you a way to live without drinking." I had a simple choice between life and death.
