Now Hear This!

Without fanfare or publicity, the U.S. Navy is quietly staffing a few key positions in the Bureau of Naval Personnel with selected AA members, to initiate a servicewide alcoholism program. Two officers have already reported for these posts, and the next staff addition will he a chief or first class personnelman or yeoman, if an active-duty volunteer can he found with at least two years' continuous sobriety in the Fellowship. The bureau nucleus will also be seeking experienced AA contacts in all commands to establish a referral network of collateral duty counselors aimed at helping other alcoholics in the fleet and at shore bases around the world.
