Early Detection Is Vital
As with any disease, before alcoholism can be treated it must be diagnosed. The World Health Organization defines alcoholism as a chronic behavioral disorder, manifested by repeated drinking of alcoholic beverages in excess of the dietary and social standards of the community and to an extent that it interferes with the drinker's health or his social or economic functioning.
