The Artist Who Sat in a Daydream

Creative workers ask the question: Can I be productive without the alcohol on which I depended? Here, four artists from different fields share their experience after joining AA

I SAT AT my desk during the first three months that I was sober, and I did my work. I designed things and I did drawings. In the evenings, I went to meetings and did not give much time to freelance drawing or doing any paintings. Gradually, I did less and less work and became less and less interested in creating. The little I did produce during that first year of sobriety was good; I was satisfied with its quality. But I could not understand why I did not do more.
