My Name Is Neville

MY NAME is Neville and I am an alcoholic. I could not drink in a moderate way. Whenever I started drinking, I continued until I lost all control over myself. At the time, this never caused me worry, as I was under the impression that I could control my drinking whenever I wanted to. As a result, I continued drinking in this disastrous way until I lost my employment (a fairly good one) and the respect and regard of my family and friends, and finally landed on skid row. Only when I had reached rock bottom, physically, mentally, and morally, did the realization come over me that I could not drink and had to stop completely. I was willing to try anything. It was at this stage that a relative of mine, who was aware of my drinking problem, advised me to try the Fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous. It was in this condition that I came into AA.
