Pressures of the Presidency

Senator Harold K. Hughes, a former alcoholic [sic] who gave up drinking 17 years ago [was] asked if he could stand the pressures of the Presidency without returning to alcohol. The Iowa Democrat said: "We've had a lot of Presidents who had drinking problems. I would rather have someone controlling that nuclear button who does not drink. I know I don't."
