Sense and nonsense on the road to recovery

DRUNKS HAVE A WAY of bringing things home with them. For example, we have the true tale of the lush's wife who was awakened very late one night by the sound of heavy panting in the totally darkened bedroom. The poor woman was terror-stricken and lay there rigid, while increasingly horrible thoughts went through her head. The panting kept on and on and on. Finally, she could stand it no longer, and she quickly snapped on the light, poised to jump out of bed, to scream, or even to jump out the window.
