An allegory in which some fictional characters act out certain truths about our human experience
ONCE THERE WAS a kind, earnest young man named Horace, who tried very hard to be accepted by the people in his village. But every time Horace opened his mouth, his words were greeted with scornful laughter. This confused and frustrated him, because these same sayings drew enthusiastic applause when spoken by others.
