For New York State's first Governor's Conference on Alcohol Problems, registration had to be closed when acceptances reached the 1,000 mark. As recently as 10 years ago, hardly a tenth of that number would have been drawn to such a conference, commented Dr. John L. Norris, chairman of the state's Advisory Council on Alcoholism (and nonalcoholic chairman of AA's General Service Board).
