Carrying the Message

Misunderstanding

I really enjoyed reading the mail you sent me in response to my letter which ran in August 1971. I feel I have been misunderstood by at least a couple of fellow members. It appears to me that they feel as though I'm defending those two statements[1]--when that really isn't the case at all. I would like to make clear that I am an advocate of all twelve of the Steps and Traditions, God as I understand Him, all our Slogans, people, and anything else that will contribute to the treatment of this threefold, vicious illness called alcoholism. In the First Step, I have admitted complete defeat, and that my life has become unmanageable, drunk or sober. The other eleven Steps are the means to restore order to my chaotic life. Action is the key word for me.
