FIRST THINGS FIRST is a great Slogan, and nobody needs it more than we alcoholics. It is a statement of the truth that without our sobriety little else of life will remain. It is an injunction to the newcomer that only by placing sobriety first can sobriety be achieved. It is correct on both counts, and it puts sobriety in its proper place for every individual alcoholic--first.
