Two birthdays in one

I've only been in AA for a short time--this time. Upon spending my thirty-sixth birthday in jail, I realized that something basic in my life needed changing. I expected, or rather hoped for, a chance to make something of the last half of my life. I felt that God had somehow chosen that clay, of all days of the year, to show me that the path I had been following for twenty years was no good. (I had been in jail many times for drinking before, hut had some how managed to stay out for twelve years.)
