All These Things You Gave Me

DID YOU EVER TRY to stop drinking by yourself--stop entirely? I did--and found that I couldn't. It didn't work for more than three or four months. I needed power from the outside--a higher power than myself. I found that power in the sober people of Alcoholics Anonymous. I found a way to stop and stay stopped, if I chose. And who wouldn't choose sobriety over a body-mind-soul sickness that gives heartbreak a headache?
