Carrying the Message

My sponsor was much wiser than I ever presumed him to be. Every week or so, he would ask how I was getting along with my inventory, and I would persistently dodge answering him. Finally, he sat me down and told me this: If I didn't follow through on all Twelve Steps to the best of my ability, he could state without question that my sobriety would be in delicate balance and I would positively find no serenity or peace of mind. That hit home to me.
