Nobody Could Have Kept Me from My Slip

Once the decision was made - Now the struggle to come back demands patience, honesty, and humility

FOR ALMOST A WEEK now, I've been having what I suppose are withdrawal symptoms from three small martinis before dinner out, six nights ago, plus two slugs of sherry at home later. Admittedly, I was wound up tight and only picked at dinner. When I got home, I had to keep talking to my long-suffering husband and had to have the relaxation of drinking--hence the sherry, which was the only thing in the house. My husband cut me off and went to bed. That saved me from worse results, because when I'm wound up I need an audience. I'd like to remember and report accurately, because it seems almost incredible that there has been such extreme progression in my inability to handle the poison.
