Carrying the Message

With only two years of AA behind me, I was feeling I had accomplished the heretofore-unattainable goal--for me. I attended a discussion meeting on July 4, Independence Day. With tremendous pride, I decided this was an extremely appropriate remark: "Since I have been dependent on the bottle so many years, I am especially glad to have gained my own personal independence. I'm glad to be here tonight and be sober."
