Carrying the Message
Selfishness or self-care?
We often hear (in the West) that ours is "a selfish program." It seems to me there is some misunderstanding in linking "selfish" and "program." I have just read over the first eleven chapters of the Big Book and find there is much said about unselfishness--that self-will, self-seeking, and self-pity can only hurt us. On page 62, it says, "Above everything, we alcoholics must be rid of this selfishness."
