Carrying the Message
Second time around
There were many people in the program who told me that if I went out of prison and picked up a drink, things would get worse. I had reservations about this. Within three weeks after I was paroled from state prison, I had picked up that fatal first drink. For about two weeks, everything was fine. Then it happened--things got worse. I experienced two blackouts and had a parole-violation warrant, and my sister asked me to leave the home she had provided for me.
