The National Clearinghouse for Alcohol Information has been created as part of the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism to serve as a national focal point for the collection and dissemination of information on the subjects of alcohol and alcohol abuse. NCALI will reach a wide range of audiences, including physicians, researchers, counselors, alcoholics and their families, and the general public. Computer science and information-services support will be provided by the General Electric Company, which was awarded a $993,000 one-year contract by NIAAA.
