Age Level Going Down?
Twelve-year-olds are becoming weekend drunks in the Buffalo area. Where drinking too much used to be almost exclusively an adult problem, now it is spreading downward in age to sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-grade pupils, "which means we are finding it in as young as 12," according to Joseph C. Donofrio, who directs Catholic Charities' drug-abuse education program in the Buffalo Diocesan schools.
