For the Birds

For many years, the birds watched me--now I'm watching the birds. My past life has surely been for the birds--robin my money--nothing to crow about--full of cardinal sins--a sapsucker higher than a kite--a night owl--a nighthawk--walked pigeon-toed--a cuckoo--a loon--acted like a goose--would grouse around like a buzzard for more--a raven thrasher in bed. After too many swallows, I made a swanlike helldiver into Sparrow Hospital with help from my wife, Grace the dove. Now, I'm happy as a lark, singing along as I watch.
