Sense and nonsense on the road to recovery

LIARS ANONYMOUS DEPT.: It is well known that most active lushes--and a number of inactive lushes, too, we might add--are past masters at the various related arts of bending the truth, disguising the facts, and outright lying. In our drinking prime, we wouldn't have told the truth if our life had depended on it. We lied when we needed to, and we lied when we didn't need to. As a matter of course, we lied about everything. If someone asked what we had for lunch and we'd had hamburger, we'd have said, "Franks and beans."
