THE SAME SENSIBLE CAT was seen later that night sitting in his car. The car was off the highway with its rear wheels hanging in empty space. The engine was going, and the poor sap was steering grimly and singlemindedly, quite oblivious to the fact that the car was going absolutely nowhere.
