New York City treated 50 to 70% more alcoholics last year than in 1971, Health Services Administrator Gordon Chase reported. The number of persons treated in hospitals increased 70%, from 4,174 to 7,083, and the number of visits to outpatient clinics rose from 80,048 to 121, 635, a 50% increase.
