An ex-prizefighter loses his biggest fight in the final round

THE MUNCIE Bulldog is dead. Years ago, he fought in clubs in the Midwest under that name, also as Irish Pat. He wasn't Irish, but he looked it. He had a round face and bright blue eyes. He was completely bald, small, with powerful arms and gnarled hands that he had used hard all his life. He'd been a steelworker, a cowboy, a field hand. He had been married and had lost his wife in an automobile accident some years ago.
