Program Impact Assessed

Results of a followup survey on a number of clients who attended the Alcoholism Commission of Saskatchewan rehabilitation centers were announced by Commission Chairman Dr. Ian McDonald of Saskatoon. The survey showed that 61% of the 191 clients interviewed a year after completing a stay at the centers reported various degrees of improvement, while 39% remained "problem drinkers." Of the total sample, 19% had achieved complete sobriety, 31% were sober at the time of the study (one or two relapses), and 11% were social drinkers (moderate use with no apparent attendant problems).
