Doctors from all over Europe have passed recommendations calling for uniform definitions of drunkenness in an attempt to control drunken driving. The Fourth International Medical Congress on Traffic Accidents found that drunkenness definitions varied from 0.05 grams to 1.50 grams throughout Europe.
