Carrying the Message

After a long life of being told the importance of using willpower and pushing onward and upward, it is a continuing miracle to me to be learning to live the AA way. From that original feeling of despair and defeat when I finally surrendered nearly five years ago, I am now finding almost an excitement and a joyful anticipation as I move into each new day, knowing how many beautiful surprises have unfolded during previous 24-hour periods. And I've quit trying to carry the ball.
