SALVATION is just around the corner, maybe: The Salvation Army band blew the tubas, trumpets, and trombones mightily. The sweet young thing clanged her bell with vigor. A lush wallowing down the street stopped and stared, then went up to the girl and beerily demanded, "Do you believe that Jonah was swallowed by a whale?"
