Turning Point

When I arrived at the doorsteps of AA, I had to start with God as I understood Him. I was an agnostic who had been trying to be an atheist for thirty-four years, ever since I had started to drink regularly. Needless to say, God as I understood Him had very little power. Then, one day at a time, the winners started teaching me of God as they understood Him in the Fellowship of AA, a power that, in their powerlessness, had helped them to lose their obsession with alcohol and to rehabilitate their unmanageable lives.
