IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN that same chap, in the same bar and in a very dejected mood, who told a drinking companion, "When I'd been married for five years, I wanted to kill my wife, but I knew I'd get twenty years in prison for it. Just think! Today I'd be a free man!"
