A Plea of 'Not Guilty'
IN THE LAST several years, a previously unfamiliar phrase rooted in legal terminology has been added to the vocabulary of most adult Americans. State after state has adopted, or seems likely to adopt, auto-insurance laws based on the "no fault" principle, under which victims of accidents are compensated for injuries, lost work time, and damage to their cars without going through the long-drawn-out and expensive legal process of bringing suit to place the blame on the "guilty" party.
