On a beautiful summer day in 1971, a small group of New York Times employees (members of AA) walked into the psychiatrist's office on the thirteenth floor of the Times Building. They were there at the request of Dr. Hess for the purpose of discussing the formation of an Alcoholics Anonymous group in the building.
